The Lady Jackets won the NCCAA Midwest Regional Championships in a 69-64 victory over the Grace College Lancers on Wednesday.
It was a back-and-forth, evenly contested game for the most part, but Cedarville started the game well, shooting 56.0% from the floor and going 4-8 from the three-point line. On defense, the Lady Jackets kept the Lancers to a field goal percentage of 37.0% for the half, so Cedarville was able to grab a 36-29 lead at the break.
In the second half, Grace fought back, exploding to an 11-point lead early in the second. Kayla Jenerette sank a three-pointer to break the 62-62 tie with 1:25 left in the clock. Cedarville was able to secure and carry the lead to the buzzer and will go to the NCCAA National Tournament on March 14-17 in Winona Lake, Ind..
Jenerette led the Lady Jackets with 21 points. She went 8-12 in from the floor and hit 2-4 shots from beyond the arc. Of her 21 points, she scored 15 in the second half. Raegan Ryan came off the bench to contribute 16 points of her own, going 6-8 in field goals and a perfect 4-4 from behind the arc. Ryan also led the team in rebounds with 6. Deborah Chandler had a standout game, scoring 13 points and collecting 5 rebounds.
