The Cedarville women’s basketball team got back to its winning ways tonight at home, defeating Ohio Valley 76-56. The win comes after having their nine game winning streak snapped by losing at Central State this past Tuesday night,
The teams traded baskets early, but Cedarville began pulling away ten minutes into the first half, taking an eight point lead into the under eight timeout. The lead got as high as 13 and the Lady Jackets took a 37-25 lead into halftime. The second half continued much as the first had ended, Ohio Valley not able to keep up Cedarville’s efficiency on offense. The Lady Jackets shot 53% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc.
Raegan Ryan and Kayla Linkous each had 14 points for the Lady Jackets. Ryan also had seven assists. Also in double figures were Lauryn Robinson, who had 11 points to go along with six rebounds, and Kayla Jenerette, who also had 11 points. Deborah Gordon had eight points and nine rebounds and Danielle Spiliotis had eight points and six rebounds.
With the win, Cedarville (16-9, 12-3 G-MAC) sits one game behind Trevecca Nazarene in second place in the G-MAC. The Lady Jackets hold the tiebreaker over Trevecca, having defeated them twice already this year. To win the regular season conference championship, the Lady Jackets need to defeat Salem International in their final game of the season and Trevecca needs to lose their final game against Ursuline College.
Both the men and women host Salem International for the final regular season game of the year. Those games will be this Saturday, Mar. 1 with the women tipping off at 2:00 p.m. and the men following at 4:15.
