The last time the Cedarville men’s basketball team played Ohio Valley, it took overtime for the Yellow Jackets to finally defeat the Scots. Tonight was quite the opposite. The Yellow Jackets dominated from start to finish in a 87-65 blowout.
The Yellow Jackets came out shooting and jumped out to an early 10-3 lead. Ohio Valley fought back, making it 10-9, but Cedarville responded with an 18-2 run to blow the game open. The onslaught continued as the Jackets held the visiting Scots to 8-33 shooting in the first half and out-rebounded them 29-20. They took a comfortable 41-19 lead into the half. In the second half, Cedarville didn’t look back, maintaining their 20+ point lead throughout for an impressive victory.
Jason Cuffee led all scorers with 18 points. Also in double figures for the Yellow Jackets were J.C. Faubion with 16, Marcus Reineke with 13, and Brian Grant with 12. Grant also had eight rebounds. Easton Bazzoli had nine points and six rebounds and Austin Pickett had seven points and eight rebounds. The Yellow Jackets shot 53% from the field and held the Scots to 35% shooting.
With the win Cedarville moves to 9-17 (6-7 GMAC). The Yellow Jackets are sitting in fourth place in the conference.
Both the Cedarville men and women host Salem International for the final regular season game of the year and senior night. Those games will be this Saturday, Mar. 1 with the women tipping off at 2:00 p.m. and the men following at 4:15.
