The Lady Jackets got a much-needed victory on homecoming Saturday, defeating conference-opponent Ohio Valley 1-0. All three of the Jackets victories this season have been 1-0.
Alyssa Maillefer scored the game’s only goal three minutes in off an assist from her teammate Lauren Lichty. It was Maillefer’s third goal of the season, which is second most on the Yellow Jacket squad.
Despite scoring only one goal, the Lady Jackets controlled the game for the most part. They outshot the Fighting Scots 20-10, including eight shots on goal to five.
Former Lady Jacket soccer coach John McGillivray was honored at halftime for his 42 years of coaching at the university.
The Lady Jackets (3-6-1) will have another conference matchup on Thursday. They will host Davis & Elkins (4-5), who defeated the Jackets 3-1 in their first matchup this season.
