Dorm Life

by Tim Miller

Your dorm is one place you will call home during your time on campus. Whether you’re a Lawlor For Lifer or a Brock Jock, becoming integrated into dorm life is crucial to having a solid year. You’ll find mentors you can lean on for spiritual support and best friends to hang out with in the same living space.

Here are some events you can’t miss during your time at Cedarville.

Campus Christmas

One of the biggest events of the year comes near finals week. Campus Christmas is absolutely bonkers if you do it right.

Campus Christmas is a time in which all units unite and halls are decked in some kind of theme. Students from across campus will enter your living space to judge your creativity and hope your theme impresses.

Make sure you go all out and think outside the box when choosing a theme, and whatever you do, don’t have a North Pole theme.

Gridiron

On the first Saturday night in November, students fill Cedarville High School’s stands more than its football team can all season. Printy and Maddox square off and Lawlor and the Hill battle it out in an annual flag-football game that shows which is the superior dorm.

You may think this is a bunch of dumb young adults getting sweaty and chasing after a football, and you’d be right. However, this event is huge, as students from all dorms are in attendance.

Last year, Printy hammered Maddox to the tune of 49-0, while Lawlor eked out a win against the Hill in a thrilling overtime affair, 17-14.

Dorm events

Many dorms have a night in which things get a little weird. Lawlorpalooza, Printy Wars, Man Week and others keep new students active in their dorms.

You’ll be asked to do some weird, and borderline shameful tasks, but it’s worth it.

Make sure you enjoy yourself during your dorm’s events, as it helps you to really get to know your unit and hall mates.
