Chapel bands and Heartsong unite for worship
By Maggie Fipps
“We don't exist to play really good music at 10 a.m., we exist to help people remember and respond to Jesus,” said Ashlynn Robinette, the assistant director for chapel music and Heartsong ministries.
Robinette started this new role in her 11th year at Cedarville, a shift that occurred after Jim Cato, associate vice president for Christian ministries, retired at the end of last year. Robinette also played on Heartsong and chapel bands as a Cedarville student, ...
Testimony Tuesday: The heartbeat of a life surrendered to God
By Bella Agnello
“Are you just following in the footsteps of everyone else? Because you could really blend in if you wanted to.”
This is what Matthew Dudley, a sophomore Computer Science and Cyber Security double major, heard God speaking to his heart during a chapel at school when he was thirteen years old.
Dudley grew up in church and attended Christian schools his whole life, yet faith did not mean much more than going to church and occasionally reading the Bible.

‘Ignite’ is two-parts novel and one-part poetry.
By Ella Smith
As an avid fan of Kara Swanson’s debut duology, “Dust” and “Shadow,” I was excited to dive into her latest release, “Ignite.” “Ignite” is the first in a fantasy series centering around a world with a dying sun where phoenix blood is the only source of warmth. The central character, Mara, is a phoenix tasked with protecting her family against human hunters. However, it is soon revealed that Mara can trust nothing of what she’s been told about her world.&nb...

Skeleton Key Adventures unlocks a dream for Joshua and Emily Kaster
By Maggie Fipps
When Joshua and Emily Kaster moved to Cedarville in 2012, Main Street looked very different. Lola’s Mexican restaurant did not exist, Orion Coffee and Tea went by Stony Creek and Double Dragon, a Chinese restaurant, inhabited the white building at 46 N. Main St.
12 years later, 46 N. Main St. will now be Skeleton Key Adventures, an escape room the Kasters opened after years of pouring into the Cedarville community.
The Kasters said they met in a Missouri ...
“Living in Babylon” conference teaches living fruitfully in post-Christian society
By Bella Agnello
On Tuesday, September 9, Answers in Genesis’ (AiG) “Living in Babylon” touring conference made its first United States stop at Cedarville University. Ken Ham, AiG’s founder, and Martyn Iles, chief executive officer of AiG, spoke about what it looks like to evangelize and live in a continually anti-Christian world. The two-hour conference began at 6 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center, where both Cedarville students and Ohio residents filled the seats.
Ham started ...
Testimony Tuesdays: Belief defeats doubt
By Bella Agnello
(Photo: Donnie (left) at summer camp in 2018)
Christian summer camps create many emotional, spiritual and worshipful experiences. There is nothing like freely worshiping Jesus in a crowd of young adults.
This shocked Donnie Gardiner, a sophomore Management student at Cedarville University, in 2018 when he went to a Christian summer camp for the first time. A native from the Turks and Caicos Islands, he never saw a group of people his age raising their hands in total ...

Summer Film Recap: Ashleigh Clark’s summer of sequels and adaptations.
By Ashleigh Clark
This summer was quite the summer for remakes, adaptations and sequels. Some were good; some were adequate; some were bad. In my summer review, I’d like to talk about an adaptation that soared above my expectations and a sequel that just barely met them. This is my review of “Fallout” and “Twisters.”
“Fallout,” an Amazon Prime TV show based on the hit game series of the same name, is the next installment in successful video game adaptations. ...
