Facing discrimination and feelings of unworthiness, the women push on fighting to make both the deadline and their ability known.  Following the life of Lena Derricotte (Ebony Obsidian), the film begins when Lena receives the tragic news that the love of her life, Abram David, died in ...

GO Conference turns students to missions through the church

By Bella Agnello Despite a one day delay due to a heavy snowstorm, GO Conference was a radical hit, charging Cedarville’s students to get involved in their local churches. Speakers challenged them to reconsider the importance that the church plays in the worship of God through missions. To close the conference, a brand-new prayer night event offered students a place to reflect and talk to God about the present and future state of the mission field. Over the course of the conferen...

Over the winter break, Cedarville received news that Wagoner, a sophomore Accounting major, died on December 16 due to a car accident.  Dr. Jon Wood opened the ceremony with a sermon on John chapters 15 through 17 and excerpts from Wagoner’s obituary. Family and friends of Wagoner, ...

Jackets win by staying strong in the face of opposition

By Danielle Cherry January 9 kicked off the first game following winter break for the Yellow Jackets women's basketball team. With six points for Ursuline and not a single point on the board for the Jackets, the preceding game looked rough. Yet, the Yellow Jackets locked in, sealing a victory in the face of a back-and-forth match.  From the beginning, the Jackets were confused, barely moving on offense and missing shots. A scarcely noticeable crowd played no role in boosting the ...

Missed Opportunities: Cedarville falls to Malone in a nail-biter

By Emily Tuttle Fighting back and forth with only seconds remaining, Cedarville utilized their timeouts to draw up plays and substitute the right player for each scenario. Their game plan was intact, but their failure to secure defensive rebounds allowed this plan to slip out of their fingers on a night when Cedarville narrowly fell to Malone University, 59-57. The Cedarville Men’s Basketball team (7-5) lost a physical battle to Malone (5-8) despite holding the lead for over half the ...

A snowy startup at Cedarville University

By Avonlea Brown Cedarville University’s campus shut down on Monday due to a Winter Storm Warning that started in the afternoon on Sunday and ended Monday night.  The warning proved timely as the snow began in the early afternoon on Sunday and lasted until late Monday afternoon. Wind whipped students back and forth while pelting them with a steady stream of snow. Even the Kubota vehicles tasked with plowing walkways struggled to push through the accumulating snow mounds.  ...

‘Mufasa’ should win a Oscar

By Danielle Cherry Pride Rock shines once again in “Mufasa,” retracing the history of the royal line to where it all began: with Taka and Mufasa. Throughout the film, their relationship develops and stretches as they encounter obstacles that hinder them from making it to Milele. From the beginning of the film, Taka and Mufasa are inseparable, playing in the grass under the watchful eye of Taka’s father, Obasi. By the middle of the film, the viewer is clued to who Taka really ...

By Danielle Cherry Anything is possible within the multiverse. “What If…?” explores the endless possibilities within the Marvel universe, following beloved characters in unique team-ups and stories that set this animated series apart from the other Marvel TV shows and movies. Here, anything goes, even the most ludicrous. “What If…?” is a controversial series among Marvel fans, garnering much hate and love at the same time. I was surprised that the TV show was ...

‘Gladiator II:’ We are entertained, but we should be feeling something stronger

By Ben Konuch “A man does not become emperor by bloodline alone. It must be taken by force and kept by force! Are you such a man as this?” I really, really wanted to love “Gladiator II.” As one of 2024’s flashiest blockbusters and a sequel to one of the most famous historical action films ever made, “Gladiator II” had a lot going for it. As iconic director Ridley Scott stepped back into the world of ancient Rome with a new, star-studded cast, I found myself thoroughly ...
