For the third time in three seasons, Cedarville men’s basketball is scheduled to go up against Division I University of Dayton Flyers in an exhibition game. The game is scheduled for Nov. 1 at UD Arena with tipoff at 7 p.m.
The two teams last competed prior to the 2019-20 season in which Cedarville fell 93-60. They were scheduled to play last season as well, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols. Dayton is scheduled to open their regular season just eight days later. Cedarville’s schedule for the 2021-22 season has not been released yet.
Heading into the exhibition game last year, the Jackets felt ready to put up a greater fight against the Flyers. The Dayton team they played in 2019 went on to enter the Associated Press top 25 at No. 19, rising as high as No. 3. It was the Jackets third exhibition game of the preseason. They fell in the first two to Valparaiso University and Ohio State University. Only juniors and seniors on the Cedarville roster will have that experience in their back pocket to take with them against the Flyers this time around.
Cedarville finished last season with a record of 12-9 and came in second in the G-MAC Championship. Dayton will provide a good challenge for the squad as they head into their regular season in the hopes of bringing a championship all the way through.
