Freshman Isaacs Leads Jackets to Big Win Over Tiffin

The Cedarville Yellow Jackets used a strong outing Thursday night against visiting Tiffin to secure a 4-0 victory. The win improves Cedarville’s record to 4-1 this season and 1-1 in conference play.

Freshman forward Jackson Isaacs had a fantastic night, scoring the Jackets’ first goal of the game in the 12th minute and following it up with another goal in the 67th minute. The brace made up his first and only shots and goals with the Yellow Jackets.

“I couldn’t be happier – we knew it was going to be a battle, but I was really proud of the way the guys responded tonight,” said head coach Brett Faro.

Cedarville started the game off by applying pressure to Tiffin’s backline, and won multiple corner kicks early on. Continued offensive pressure led to Isaacs bagging his first goal of the night, but Tiffin responded by gaining some momentum back and possessing the ball.

The Yellow Jackets managed not to concede and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Cedarville held the advantage in shots on goal by a margin of 6-2 at the break.

Tiffin began the second half with some quality play, but the Jackets battled and continued to apply offensive pressure in the final third of the pitch. In the 67th minute, Isaacs scored his second of the night, and shortly after, senior Mark Rowan notched Cedarville’s third goal of the evening in the 72nd minute.

The Jackets didn’t let down on their aggressiveness either, as they forced a corner immediately following Rowan’s goal and then senior Phillip Maillefer converted on another shot in the 89th minute to polish off the 4-0 victory.

Cedarville finished the night with a 15-14 edge in shots. Goalkeeper Jared Zacharias made two saves for his third career shutout.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on the road this coming Saturday, September 25th in another G-MAC matchup against Ashland, with the game slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
