Zach Kruse, a sophomore Molecular Biology major, works as an emergency room tech at a hospital in his hometown of Newton, Kansas, over breaks. As an ER tech, he takes care of the menial tasks, such as cleaning rooms and reading vitals to monitor patients, as well as shadowing doctors.
“It’s easy to learn the book side of hospital stuff, but actually being able to be in a hospital and learn from actual doctors and nurses is a huge blessing,” Kruse said.
Kruse applied for the position last summer after completing a required EMT course and getting his EMT license. Going in with no medical experience, Kruse sees the blessing it is to learn from these doctors and recognizes it as an opportunity to share his faith.
“It is a great place for me to go to learn and be a light in a dark place,” Kruse said. “There’s hardly any Christians and you can minister to patients and your coworkers.”
Kruse is ready to return as an ER tech this summer and continue his education in the emergency room.

Esse works as content creator for Answers in Genesis
By Laci Strouse
Crissa Esse is a junior Professional Writing and Information Design major who will intern for Answers in Genesis (AiG) as a content writer.
Esse will work alongside team members who are responsible for the signage in the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. She hopes to write and edit a variety of content that is related to AiG’s goals of proclaiming the authority of Scripture.
“I love writing and editing, learning science, and God’s Word, so I’m excited to combine these interests at Answers in Genesis,” Esse said.
With a new position comes uncertainty about what to expect. She will be staying in a new environment, surrounded by new people while working in a new position. The unknown can be hard for her as she comes to terms with a new opportunity.
“I like to have everything planned and feel under control,” Esse said. “When I try something big and new, I can’t know everything to expect, so I feel like I don’t have much control. Sometimes, this causes me to worry. But I know that God knows all the answers already and has everything planned out for good, so I’m learning to patiently trust more and more.”
Esse also said God used her time at Cedarville to prepare her for this internship.
“My writing classes, biology classes, and Bible classes have all been so beneficial in stretching me, growing my skills,
and increasing my knowledge,” she said.
Along with her courses, her on-campus jobs such as working as a technical writer for the IT department, have equipped her with relevant experience that she believes will benefit her this summer.
“This internship is a dream come true and an answer to prayer, and I can’t wait to see what God will do this summer as I embark on this adventure,” Esse said.
