The Cedarville men’s basketball team narrowly fell in a heartbreaking loss to Walsh University on Feb. 20, 80-79, with the game teetering until the final seconds. The university’s Gold Rush game brought out 812 fans, with the first 750 receiving a free gold shirt to support the Jackets.
After a slower start in the first, the Jackets let their opponent gain a 13-point lead, which they struggled to grapple back from the rest of the game. The Cavaliers shot 53% from three in the first half, but players like Timothy Davis and Sam Johnson contributed heavily with a combined 40 points.
In the second half, when Cedarville fought back to tighten the game, they could not capitalize on late-game opportunities, giving up the ball after stealing it. Even with Ethan Sellers hitting three with mere seconds left, the Jackets in the final seconds, and fans in gold shirts walked away disappointed.
