Cedarville swept Ohio Valley 3-0 Tuesday night by scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-18.
Gabby Olson lead the way for the Yellow Jackets with 13 kills. Rachel Krikke lead the team in blocks with eight and Kristen Cardwell lead the team in assists with 34.
Cedarville started out the first set hot with a 5-1 lead. Ohio Valley fought back to tie the score 7-7. Both teams traded points until Krissy Pratt and Cardwell and an error by Ohio Valley to make the score 20-14 Cedarville. Cedarville continued to dominate the first set until they won it 25-18.
The second set was a closer score. Cedarville started off with an 8-4 lead, but the Fighting Scots scored three straight points to make it 8-7. Kills by Pratt and Krikke put the Jackets ahead 11-7. The Fighting Scots fought back to tie the score at 13. The Jackets took charge from there to take a commanding 21-16 lead. Cedarville made it to game point with the lead 24-20. Three straight Ohio Valley points made the score 24-23. A service error by Ohio Valley gave Cedarville the set 25-23.
The third set started off close. Cedarville only had a 5-4 lead to begin the set, then scored four straight points to make it 9-4. After Ohio Valley scored one point, the Jackets went on another 4-0 run to make the score 13-5. Two of those points came from back-to-back aces by Abby Shelton. The Jackets continued to roll through the set to win it 25-18.
The Jackets are now 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the GMAC. Their next game will be at home vs Ursuline at 7pm.
