A worshipful conclusion to Homecoming Weekend 2017.

CU’s annual Homecoming Weekend came to a worshipful close this year with a new event – Light The Lake.
Starting just before 9 p.m., crowds began to gather around Cedar Lake, stopping at various stations around the lake to pick up their paper lantern.
Families and friends, past and present generations of students, began releasing their lanterns into the lake as live worship music played from the BTS steps.
Despite several mishaps with the lanterns – not staying lit, falling over in the lake, being blown into the rocks – the scene was still magical.
Many came to the event expecting a “Tangled” experience. But while some were disappointed in the less spectacular outcome, most participants still reveled in the peacefulness of the night.
“This would have been a failure if everyone was upset,” said 2017 graduate Tristan Ferry, Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Advancement. “They’re going to remember this night as the final night of Homecoming.”
