Secret Church: A night of remembrance and a call to action

By Avonlea Brown *For the purpose of security and protecting students from hostile countries, no name of students who shared their testimonies and their countries of origin will be shared as well as last names of the coordinating students Seniors and juniors of Cedarville University gathered quietly at 9 p.m. on October 28, in the Scharnberg Business and Communication Center for an event titled ‘Secret Church.’ The night of worship and prayer called students to have a passion for ...

Rinnova’s new coffee cart becomes a campus staple

By Bella Agnello Rinnova saw staggering lines when they switched to using coffee beans from Pettibone Coffee in Dayton, OH. At high-traffic times of day, lines can stretch as far back as to Panda Express. This year, help came in the form of Rinnova’s new portable coffee cart. Starting November 5, the Rinnova cart will be up and running in the BTS on Tuesdays and Thursdays after chapel until 4 p.m. Students can pay for their drinks with cash or flex dollars. Westin Park, the assist...

A helping hand in healing: Cedarville’s partnership with a confidential advocate

By Madison Dyer For many college students, each semester represents an opportunity for a fresh start, where what happened in the past can stay in the past. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. It is because of this that Cedarville University partnered with Violence Free Futures and provided a confidential advocate with a unique opportunity to aid troubled students on their healing journeys.  Her name is Anna Beckloff, and this is her first academic year as a counselor at ...

Testimony Tuesday: A lifelong journey of obedience and discipleship

By Bella Agnello (Pictured Above- Aaron Cook and family) In 1986, 9-year-old Aaron Cook heard the Gospel from a guest preacher at church and went down to the front of the congregation to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Cook calls it his moment of conversion and his first attempt at evangelism – he brought his grandfather down to the front with him. Though he did not know it yet, God would call him to a life dedicated to surrender, evangelism and discipleship. Cook grew ...

International student voices on America’s charged political climate

By Ben Konuch As an election year rips through America, a divided political climate claws at Christians and non-Christians alike — college students are no exception, even those from outside the country.  Cedarville University is home to over 5,000 undergraduate students who all face the political rhetoric of America at a crossroad. Of that number, over 15% of total undergraduate students are from other countries, meaning that over 750 international students face a charged politi...

The veteran misconception: New org at Cedarville seeks to support students transitioning from the  military

By Madison Dyer  Veteran students face a unique challenge when coming to college, even such a welcoming one as Cedarville University.  People who serve in the military have the option to go to college on a scholarship after they complete their service. It is near impossible to recognize veteran students, nobody ever mentions them in passing and most students are too busy to dedicate more than a second of consideration to their veteran peers’ situation.  Dr. Jason Grimm, ...

By Bella Agnello Pictured left to right: Stephanie Frei, Abby Barber, Kaitlyn Ring and Whitney O’Brien Beyond the cardboard canoe race and Spirit Week, what makes Homecoming so special is that it allows alumni to reflect on their four years at Cedarville and witness what God is continuing to do.  In 2019, a group of friends made a promise to one another that they would come back to campus together for their five-year reunion. In 2024, Whitney O’Brien, Kaitlyn Ring, Abby ...

Vote with Vision creates conversation, not debate, around politics on campus

By Maggie Fipps Today, bringing up the election is an instant conversation killer. Tiring commercials with dramatic music air every break, and it seems every other Facebook post is a new way to superimpose Trump onto a famous figure. It can be fatiguing to begin thinking about what you will write on your ballot in November.  Vote with Vision, a new initiative on campus, is hoping to start a better conversation around this fall’s election. Josh Chapin, Destiny Gaines, Luke Ring and ...

Testimony Tuesday: The beauty in letting go

By Bella Agnello Evangelism does not always mean preaching on the streets or going on mission trips. Often, it is simply sharing personal stories of seeing God’s glory and sovereignty. Ellie Binger, a sophomore Exercise Science major, knows just how important it is to share testimonies. This past summer, Binger shared her story in front of over 100 people at a Christian college group. When sharing what God did in her life, Binger’s message of hope is that there is beauty in ...
