Hintz, Miller win top awards in Society of Professional Journalists’ regional contest
Cedars sports and online editor Abigail Hintz won two first-place awards in the recently announced Society of Professional Journalists' regional Mark of Excellence Awards honoring collegiate journalists.
Hintz won in feature writing for a story about student Laini Bergthold's experience after her family home was severely damaged by a tornado. Hintz won the sports writing category for a story about two Cedarville alums qualifying for the U.S. Olympic marathon trials.

Cedars Wins Ohio’s Top College News Award for 9th Straight Year
Cedars recently won the Frank E. Deaner Award for Excellence in Collegiate Journalism for the ninth straight year in the Ohio News Media Association's annual contest.
The Deaner Award goes to the student publication and website that accumulates the most points in the contest's 11 categories. Cedars was the winner in Division B, which consists of schools with enrollments under 10,000. The No. 1 seed Lady Jackets (19-5) fell to the No. 5 Tiffin Dragons (15-8) in the semifinals of the G-MAC championship tournament 72-56. Whether or not it is the true end of Cedarville's dominant season will be determined in the coming days as the teams who have made it into the NCAA Division II tournament becomes clear.

The No. 1 seed Lady Jackets (19-4) took down No. 8 Malone (9-12) in the first round of the G-MAC tournament 70-55 and now head to the semifinals this Friday. This was the third time the two teams had met this season, with Cedarville taking all three meetings.

The No. 24 Cedarville Lady Jackets (17-4) are now on their first-ever losing streak after a devastating 81-79 loss to the Walsh University Cavaliers (13-4) on senior night, honoring Ashlyn Huffman and Stevie Johnting. The Cedarville Lady Jackets (2-2) dropped their fourth game of the season 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-18) to the University of Findlay Oilers. The Jackets could not overcome a scrappy yet dominate Oiler offense and were therefore unable to run their own front row consistently.
