Lady Jackets win in 2OT

The Lady Jackets pulled through on an overtime goal to defeat Trevecca Nazarene 1-0 in the second overtime Thursday. Freshman Hannah Atkinson netted a goal into the left corner with two and a half minutes left to win the game. Cedarville head coach Jonathan Meade said it was a hard-fought victory. “I gotta give a lot of credit to Trevecca,” Meade said. “They came out and gave us a lot to handle.” The game started with Cedarville on the front foot for the first 15 minutes, but ...

Running with a Purpose

For the amount of time Cedarville’s women’s 4x800-meter relay team has been running, it’s members have accomplished quite a bit. It’s a young team. Olivia Esbenshade is the only junior, while Carsyn Koch, Carly Rose and Sarah Hoffman are all sophomores. Women’s track and field head coach Jeff Bolender said the four each bring something different to the team. “They are all talented runners,” Bolender said. “Each of them have different strengths, but for all of them, the 800 ...

Sophomore Thrower Mariah Cruise Sets New School Record

Sophomore Mariah Cruise recently broke the Cedarville women's track and field team shot put record, but she said she does not want to be known just for her success on the field. “I definitely want others to see me as being humble and using my talents for God,” Cruise said. Cruise was first introduced to the idea of throwing in track at an early age. Her father was her high school’s track coach. She grew up around the sport and began competing during seventh grade. “My ...

Racing Dreams

This season, sophomore runner Daniel Michalski broke the school record in the mile, and he and junior runner Wyatt Hartman have set conference records in the 3,000 meters and the 800 meters, respectively. Hartman and Michalski have taken two different paths to get to this point in their athletic careers, but they have become nearly inseparable on the track, during competition and in workouts. Hartman and Michalski ran nearly every race together this past winter side-byside, and their ...

Sophomore Thad Ferguson also added two hits and sophomore Colton Potter had a triple. Freshman pitcher Andrew Plunkett started the game. Plunkett pitched four and a third innings and allowed ...

Cedarville Sweeps Doubleheader

The Cedarville baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against Oakland City on a very windy Saturday, April 2, 3-2 and 4-2. Cedarville head coach Mike Manes said pitching was a big part of the team's victories. “Our starters went deep in the games and got ahead in the count,” Manes said. “When our starters can go deep in the game we can compete.” Senior Garrett Baker got the win in the first game, pitching five-and-a-third innings. He had seven strikeouts while a...

Jackets Fall Late to Findlay in Home Opener

In the team's first home game of the season, the Yellow Jackets baseball team fell to the University of Findlay. The visitors broke a 7-7 tie in the sixth and pulled away to win, 12-9. Cedarville’s David Bancroft opened the game by pitching a hitless first, only to have Findlay’s Mark Delaus match him immediately after to leave the score tied at zero. Multiple key errors by the Jackets helped the Oilers jump on board first with a run in the second. Cedarville would quickly follow ...

Cedarville Wins 5th Straight

The Jackets matched their season-high with a five-game winning streak, defeating the Wilberforce Bulldogs 94-73 on Saturday night. Junior J.C. Faubion led the way, tying a career-high with 35 points on 75 percent shooting and five assists. Cedarville head coach Pat Estepp said Faubion matched his career high in points because of his off-ball movement. “He didn’t stop moving,” Estepp said. “He came off screens and was cutting really well. That is a big reason he got those 35.” ...

Lady Jackets Fall in Martin’s Last Home Game

Cedarville was unable to get into an offensive rhythm Saturday night, trailing the entire time in a 73-62 loss to Ursuline in head coach Kirk Martin’s last regular-season home game. In the third quarter, the Jackets tied the score at 45 with a Kaitlyn Holm 3-pointer. That was the closest they got. “We could never get the significant over-the-hump basket, and they did,” Martin said. The Arrows outscored the home team, 21-13, in the final quarter, to win the game and place ...

It took nearly four minutes for the Jackets to score the first basket of the game. The Jackets were only up 11-4 after the end of the first quarter. Things started to pick up in the second quarter. The Jackets went into halftime with a 28-19 lead. Junior forward Christina McQueen provided a spark off the bench ...
