Romance and Laughter Take the Stage

Corie and Paul Bratter are a newlywed couple settling into their new brownstone in New York City. However, a few days into their marriage, the Bratters’ differing personalities begin to clash in unexpected ways, and Neil Simon’s romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park” is the result. Set to take the Alford Auditorium stage March 21 at 7 p.m., the senior theatre project (STP) of Lauren (Ren) Holtzem and Kristyna Zaharek promises to welcome the audience with a riotous performance. “The ...

Unique STP Highlights French Fashion

Joy McTaggart’s senior theatre project (STP) will differ from the typical play done by senior theatre majors. Since McTaggart enjoys the costuming part of theatre, she chose to make that the focus of her STP. “I’m really excited to work on an STP that is specifically tailored to what I want to do when I graduate,” McTaggart said. “Instead of directing a show, I get to build a dress, which is something I really love doing.” McTaggart’s inspiration for the dress came from a ...

Davis and Elkins Defeats Cedarville In Spring Home Opener

Cedarville, OH –The Cedarville men’s tennis team has grown accustomed to blustery conditions. “We’re used to this kind of wind here at Cedarville," coach Allan Edlund said. However, their weather prowess was no match for Davis and Elkins College’s consistency Friday. The Jackets lost the spring home opener to the Senators 7-2. The wind affected both teams. It blew serve tosses backward, sent volleys sailing into neighboring courts, and plummeted ground strokes into the net. ...

The Highs and Lows of Legalization

Twenty states have made the move to legalize medicinal marijuana, and Ohio is considering whether it will follow suit. In an interview with The Marietta Times, Ohio resident Nathan Gundlach said marijuana prohibition has caused more problems than it has solved, leading to a black market economy, excessive incarceration and infringements on individual liberties. “To me, the important issue is that we have the right to choose what we put in our bodies,” Gundlach said. Legalization ...

Concealed Carry: Will Cedarville Pull the Trigger?

Cedarville’s administration is still considering changes to its firearms policy, but little progress has been made in the past 10 months. In April 2013, campus safety director Douglas Chisholm told Cedars in an interview that Liberty University’s recent changes to its firearms policy inspired Cedarville to look into similar changes. “After we got the information on Liberty, I passed it on to key people who are reading it,” Chisholm said. “There’s been more discussion on an ...

Style Blog Not Just About Clothes

It took six Cedarville students just one weekend last November to launch a style blog that’s now attracted readers from several states. Cedarville students Beth Julca and Jennifer Langton had the idea to highlight people with interesting style around campus in some sort of online media. Langton, a junior, said she and Julca, who graduated in December, shared their idea with four other students. And when the weekend was over, the group of six had created and published “The Village.” ...
