Krispy Christmas remains the same despite personnel changes

As Cedarville University swings into Christmas season and finals loom over students, there is  one respite to numb the stress of the semester’s close. Krispy Christmas is a fundraiser run  by the student radio station Resound Radio.

Resound Radio is student-focused, student-staffed and runs like a professional radio station. Their station verse is Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

The Krispy Christmas sale runs until December 6, where if you go to ResoundRadio.com you  can buy a dozen glazed Krispy Cream doughnuts for $10 to get delivered to your dorm or picked  up on December 9.

This year not only does Resound have a new promotions director, but also a new general  manager of Resound. Does this change mean Krispy Christmas will be monumentally different  from years past?

“This year it is not much different, because I am just trying to get my head around how they ran  it in the past and just to get the mechanics down, then we can look at ways to tweak it and  improve it in years going forward,” said Craig Vinson, the new general manager of Resound.  “Right now, it’s being done as it’s always been done.”

Vinson, a Cedarville alumnus, never experienced Krispy Christmas, so he plans on following last  year’s plans.

Eliana Wiseman, the new promotions director and a broadcasting, digital media, and journalism sophomore, said the only difference between this year and last year’s Krispy Christmas is the fact that this year Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be sold. Last year, Krispy Christmas was with another company.

“The ordering and everything is exactly the same as last year,” Wiseman said.

Krispy Christmas has been an ongoing tradition at resound for the last 11 years. Every year when  November rolls around, Resound is consumed by Krispy Christmas, with promotions being made

in a wide variety of media to be able to promote the sale.

“We get to help with [Global Outreach] and I feel like it just brings the team closer together at  Resound,” Wiseman said.

Every department from Resound bands together to make Krispy Christmas possible. Graphic designs are made, commercials and promotional videos are constantly playing on the station, and DJs are required to speak about Krispy Christmas

All proceeds from Krispy Christmas goes to supporting GO Missions for future mission trip  funding for all students.

In addition to supporting GO Missions, the sale itself helps boost morale as students prepare for  finals. Wiseman feels that Krispy Christmas helps people break from the mundane of everyday  life and helps give them a break from the stress of finals.

“Finals can be a stressful time,” Vinson said. “So, we want to just give whatever encouragement,  whatever smiles we can give during finals week.”
