“Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” is more than a concert documentary following the famous band Oasis. It’s a story of forgiveness, friendship and family. Life is short, and this movie reminds the audience that it is not well spent holding a grudge.
The film, named after one of their many hit songs, launches straight into the genesis of the band in 1991. The name is extremely fitting considering the sentiments behind the band’s long history. After 15 years of no contact, the Gallagher brothers finally came back together, deciding to tour the globe once again.
Oasis quickly rose to success in England. The following scenes are a brief overview of what led to Oasis today.
By the mid ‘90s, some said Oasis even rivaled the Beatles. The Gallagher brothers, however, were notorious for their feuds on tour. The pair of hot heads were unpredictable but managed to create music that an entire generation could identify with.
During their 2009 tour in France, Noel and Liam had a huge disagreement and the band broke up. For 15 years, the brothers did not speak to each other. Both Liam and Noel had separate solo careers throughout the band’s hiatus with varying success.
Fans had lost all hope that Oasis would ever come back together. Their songs were thought to be forever archived, never to be heard live again.
Just when fans had lost all hope, Oasis announced their reunion in 2024. The brothers came back together to perform shows across the world in 2025. Fans frantically rushed to buy tickets. The tour was completely sold out.
The film takes the audience through those events, the rehearsals and performances during the ‘25 Live tour. Fans gain an insight into Liam and Noel’s experience and their way back to each other.
Overall, “Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger” stresses the importance of forgiveness and the fragility of life. As the name suggests, the brothers don’t want to look back on the years of fighting but instead, look ahead. Because they were able to forgive, countless fans had the privilege of seeing them live.
The film also addresses Oasis’ growing fanbase with younger audiences. They are not just a ‘90s band. Noel and Liam noticed the demographic of the crowds were not just people their age, in fact the majority were under the age of 30.
This band has touched more lives than Noel and Liam ever thought. Touring made it real for them and their fans for the first time and demonstrated that their music has transcended generations.
This film is an electrifying experience. Interviews with both Liam and Noel and seeing them perform around the world is truly special. In every country they visited, people young and old knew their lyrics by heart.
Personal testimonies about how the music changed lives is impactful and adds depth to the story. Seeing every day people on screen, expressing how Oasis impacted them really sits with the audience.
From the jump, “Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger” steps off with the right foot. Before carving out the present story, the movie begins with the band’s background straight away. This genius move by the filmmakers gets the audience on the same page in a concise and quick manner.
Additionally, “Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger” does an incredible job mixing archive footage from the ‘90s and early 2000s with footage from today. The filmmakers even line up Oasis’ on stage habits from the past to the present.
The movie allows the audience to feel like they are actually at the show while also providing additional insight into the world behind the curtain.
This film is all-around spectacular. It is no coincidence that in addition to this film, Oasis has announced a new tour, Live ‘27. Oasis is back. Any music fan should see this film as soon as humanly possible.
