Every fall, CU hosts a 2-hour fair and semester “kickoff party”, during which campus orgs and local ministries can set up booths to show students what opportunities are available to them during their time at Cedarville. While the event is aimed primarily at the year’s incoming freshmen, all students are highly encouraged to attend and take part in the festivities.

Student Life Programs (SLP) blocks off the DMC parking lot every year to set up booths and attractions. Students then mill around the various tables, whether it’s to see friends, support an org, or find new ways to get involved at CU and in the community.
Service dogs Wish (left) and Viola (right) give each other a friendly greeting. They were two of several “K-9’s in the Ville” service dogs who made an appearance at the fair.
“We need fun people to lead our youth minsitries!” Representatives from Agape Ministries in Dayton use puppets and playful personality to grab the attention of those passing by their table.
Junior student Jonathan Gaunt shares information about the various discipleship groups open to join this year. Discipleship groups, better known on campus as “d-groups”, are an integral part of the CU experience. Every student is strongly encouraged to be a part of the community a d-group has to offer.
Residents of West II – juniors Jeremy Smith (front), Caleb Veach (back) and John Costello (far right), and seniors K.J. Kilchrist (far left) and Mark Boss (left) – take home the victory at the Lip Sync Battle with their performance of “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction.
Kilchrist leaves the stage during the song to “serenade” girlfriend, senior Leah Reeder, marking one of the highlights of West II’s performance.

SGA representative, junior Kaleb Irey, goes all out as the students break into a dance party.
At the close of the fair/kickoff party, as night begins to set in, students gather on the hill outside the SSC to watch “Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales” on a giant inflatable screen at the bottom of the hill. A recently-released movie serves as the final event of the night every year.
