Cedars wins fifth straight award as top small-school student newspaper in Ohio, wins 6 of 10 categories

Cedars won its fifth straight Frank E. Deaner Excellence in Collegiate Journalism award as the state's top small-school student newspaper in the Ohio Newspaper Association's annual contest.
The Cedars staff accepted the award at Thursday's annual convention in Columbus. Cedars placed in all 10 categories for the first time, won first place in six of the categories and swept all three places in the best use of multimedia category.

Visiting the Beloved Bard
On Friday, Nov. 11th, a group of almost 30 Cedarville students had the chance to go on a day trip to learn more about the beloved bard, William Shakespeare. The students were led by English professors Peggy Wilfong and Scott Calhoun.
Dr. Wilfong, professor of the Shakespeare class offered here on campus, encouraged all the students in her section to go along on the trip. Mostly English students joined the class but other majors were represented as well.

IBC Starts 15th Year Impacting Cedarville
The Integrated Business Core (IBC), part business course, part student organization and part fully functioning business, has begun its 15th year this semester.
Started in 2002, IBC has been available to business department students during their junior year in the fall semester.
Professors in the school of business administration Jon Austin and Jeff Guernsey, oversee the program, though the 27 members of the IBC run the business with minimal instruction.

Behind the Serving Lines
Food is fuel for learning minds, and Cedarville stomachs are fed in one main area: the dining hall in the Stevens Student Center.
The Cedarville University dining hall goes through a lot of food in one day. One employee, Chris Hubosky, said that in a single dinner, workers might put 500 pounds of smoked beef onto the serving lines to feed the Cedarville University community. K9s at the Ville Hosts Annual Pupperoni Night Fundraiser
K9s at the Ville, a student volunteer organization, is putting on Pupperoni Night, an event this Wednesday, Nov. 16, to fundraise and raise awareness for 4 Paws for Ability, a service dog organization based in Xenia.
Pupperoni Night is a pasta dinner with puppies and a service dog demonstration. Emily Sulka, media coordinator for K9s, said the event will include food from Olive Garden and Fazoli’s as well as a chance to hear from a family who has received a service dog.
