Offense Powers Jackets to Conference Win
The Cedarville men’s basketball team set a season-high in points scored in their 91-81 win over G-MAC opponent Ohio Valley Thursday night at the Callan Athletic Center.
On offense, it was a three man show for Cedarville in the first half. After giving up a deep three-pointer in the opening seconds and turning the ball over on their first two possessions, an Austin Pickett dunk off of a breakaway steal gave the Yellow Jackets a much needed burst of energy. They played the remainder of ...
Cedarville Fails to Defend Home Court Against Trojans
The Cedarville men’s basketball team could not contain the offense of Trevecca Nazarene, who emerged with a 91-79 victory over the Yellow Jackets at the Callan Athletic Center Jan. 17.
Both teams looked to push the tempo early on and they remained even for much of the first half. However, a 10-2 run by Trevecca late in the half gave them a lead they would never relinquish. They led 47-39 at halftime.
The Trojans opened the second half with another 10-2 run, stretching their lead to ...
Two Sports, One Goal
Connor Scott experienced a situation that most people can only dream of. In his last collegiate soccer game, the G-MAC championship, he scored a goal that became the difference in a 1-0 victory for the Cedarville men’s soccer team, winning the conference title.
“It was a surreal moment,” he said, “and it’s probably one of the best sports memories I’ll ever have.”
Five days later, Scott traded the grass for the hardwood, stepping into the gym to prepare for the upcoming ...

Freshman Patrick Bain then stormed down the lane and finished a tough layup to put the Jackets up, 70-68, with 27 seconds left.
But the game did not end there. In a scuffle for ...

There is more to sophomore guard Josh Paul than meets the eye. His 6-foot-6-inch frame may be intimidating to some at first, but he is soft-spoken, and he wears a smile everywhere he goes. Hailing from Katy, Texas, Paul is blessed with an athletic body, long arms and big hands. In his first two ...

Jackets Lack Focus in Loss to Ashland
Cedarville men’s basketball coach Pat Estepp said he wasn’t happy with his team’s focus and energy Saturday night, as the team lost its first game of the season, 60-75, against Ashland in their second game of the Callan Classic.
Less than 24 hours removed from scoring 90 points in their first game of the season, the Yellow Jackets struggled to get going in the first half, scoring only 21 points and headed into the half down 15.
“We really weren’t locked in and ready to play at ...

1,375 pajama-clad fans packed into the Callan Athletic Center Friday night to watch the Cedarville men’s basketball team win its home opener against Ohio Dominican in a close game, 90-86.
Due to the G-MAC volleyball tournament, the game tipped off at 11:00 p.m. and head coach Pat Estepp made it a pajama night. The fans were on their feet for most of the game, only sitting down during timeouts.
Estepp said the crowd had a big part in the win.
“The crowd was phenomenal,” he said. ...
Cedarville Freshmen Abound on Basketball Teams
Freshman year is a time when memories are made: walking into the wrong room on the first day of classes, falling in love with a mysterious stranger, feeling the adrenaline rush as one gets back to the dorm two minutes after curfew, the list can go on. But year one is also a time of transition from high school to college, and some people handle the change more smoothly than others.
This transition is magnified in the collegiate sports world. Freshman athletes have to adapt to competition at ...
Moonlight Madness Previews Upcoming Basketball Season
Cedarville got a small taste of the upcoming basketball season Saturday night with Moonlight Madness.
The highlight of the night was the dunk exhibition. Instead of a contest like in years past, the audience was treated to a showcase of Cedarville’s best dunkers. Sophomore forward and former junior varsity player Josh Paul leapt over a friend on his way to a dunk, and sophomore forward Easton Bazzoli took a pass off the side of the backboard and slammed it in.
But sophomore guard Austin ...
