Review: ‘Father of the Bride’
Cedarville’s opening night for “Father of the Bride” Oct. 1 may have very well captured the hearts of every father in the room.
“Father of the Bride” centers around the Banks family, especially the daughter, Kay, played by junior Emma Kowatch, and her father, Stanley, played by junior Caleb Curby. Kay found a boy she plans to marry, Andrew Poplin's character Buckley Dunstan, which brings in all the hilarity that a family has while planning a wedding.
The youngest Banks, Tommy, ...

Gilmour’s Late Goal Lifts Jackets
Senior Connor Gilmour scored his NCAA-leading 12th goal of the season with just 7:27 left to play to give the Cedarville men’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over visiting Mercyhurst University Wednesday night.
The team found out Sept. 29 that it was ranked No. 24 in the nation in Division II men's soccer. This is the team's first time in the rankings since joining Division II in 2012.
The Yellow Jackets controlled much of the first half, but Mercyhurst’s bend-but-don’t-break defense let ...
Play Preview: ‘Father of the Bride’
Cedarville University's theatre department presents "Father of the Bride," a lighthearted romantic comedy, which will make its debut 8 p.m. Oct. 1 in the DeVries Theatre.
Though the play is set in the 1950s, director Rebecca Baker describes it as a very open and contemporary play. You may recognize the title from the classic movie.
“The play is not really the Steve Martin movie, but it’s the story that inspired it,” Baker said.
When Kay Banks, played by junior Emma Kowatch, ...
Book Review: ‘Go Set A Watchman’
Reading Harper Lee's "Go Set A Watchman" is like walking down an old familiar trail.
You see the same trees, but they look a little bit older; the familiar tread somewhat more worn than you remember. But all the while you're walking with the assurance that it's the same path it's always been. Your walking companion Jean Louise Finch, better known as "Scout," guides you and points out the changes she sees just as you do.
In many ways Jean Louise has changed and stayed the same, but then ...
Planned Parenthood and the Christian’s Response
A series of videos about Planned Parenthood released by the Center for Medical Progress, an organization concerned with preserving human dignity, have renewed the interest in the issue of abortion.
The Center for Medical Progress’ series of investigative videos released to the public beginning in July 2015 shows Planned Parenthood selling fetal tissue to StemExpress, a biotech firm and provider of human-derived research specimens.
In some videos, individuals with the Center for ...
Cedarville Makes Changes to Campus, Names Faculty to New Positions
So long, Cedar Spray.
You no longer have to fear the deadly – or seemingly deadly – Cedar Spray. Grounds crews moved one of the two fountains this summer further into the lake and further from the usual course of the wind’s blow. This means you can look nice for that job interview or presentation and not bring the smell of Cedar Lake with you. Hooray!
Bye-bye dorm vacuums.
If you’re prone to eating crackers in bed, leaving a trail of crumbs or bringing mud in on your shoes, you ...
Cedarville Student Wins Big with Tech
Whether it’s submitting a homework assignment on Moodle or using CedarPrint to print out an essay, technology is a part of college life at Cedarville. But winning contests doesn't usually come with the deal.
However, for junior Tim Huizinga, an IT management major, submitting his creative use for technology to Best Buy’s #BESTCOLLEGE Challenge left him a winner.
“The #BESTCOLLEGE Challenge Contest was created to help students head back-to-school by asking other students to share ...
Lady Jackets Rally to Tie Trevecca
The Cedarville Lady Jackets scored late in the second half to tie the visiting Trevecca Nazarene Trojans Sept. 24, and the two teams played to a draw, 1-1.
The game started out slowly, with neither team being able to make a significant impact early in the game. Junior midfielder Grace Miorelli came the closest for the Jackets in the first half with a volley that went slightly shy of the post. Neither side was able to pull ahead until the 36th minute, when Trevecca's Courtney Dyer received a ...
Carson Advocates Savings Accounts as Obamacare Replacement
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said during a Sept. 22 rally at Cedarville University that he is a “vociferous” opponent of the Affordable Care Act, a comment that comes as no surprise to many conservatives. Carson gained popularity as a conservative leader after a speech he gave at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2013, which Carson said wasn’t received well by the White House.
Carson said he opposes the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, because it ...
