The Jackets led the Battlers up until the closing seconds, when the visiting team tipped in a missed shot with six seconds left. Cedarville came out of the gate aggressively in a full court press and fell back into a zone. Sophomore forward Easton Bazzoli had a great first half. He hit two early threes and drove to the rim. The Jackets were executing in the half court and running the ...

Just Sayin’: New Year, New Resolutions

Well, here we are. 2015. I recently watched the “Back to the Future” trilogy, and if any of you are familiar with those movies, you would know Doc Brown takes Marty to 2015 in the second movie. October 21, 2015, to be exact. That is still a few months away, but we have a long way to go to live up to those expectations. No one has a flying car or hover-board. “Jaws 19” is probably not quite in the making yet. Although, I did hear Nike is potentially releasing a pair of shoes that ...

Taylor Swift pulled all of her albums from Spotify in November, and the albums still have not returned. Swift said in an interview with Time magazine and a July op-ed she believes music is art and should be treated as such. “I think there should be an inherent value placed on art,” Swift said. “I didn’t see that happening, perception-wise, when I put my music on Spotify.” “Music is art, and art is important and rare,” Swift said in an op-ed. “Important, rare things are ...

New students can quickly recognize common fashion choices among the students of Cedarville University. Some of these items are oversized sweaters and TOMS shoes. Another popular item seems to be a kelly-green sweatshirt featuring a series of three arrows stacked to look like an evergreen tree, the logo of Lake Ann Camp in Lake Ann, Mich. “I keep seeing people wearing this sweatshirt for Lake Ann,” said freshman student Kendall Facer. “I want to know what it is.” Working at a camp ...

Nine in a Row: Lady Jackets Roll On

The Cedarville Lady Jackets used a strong second half to pull away from conference rival Central State University and win their ninth straight game, 89-62. The Marauders provided an early challenge for a team that had won its previous three games by an average of 39 points. The game started off with a fast tempo, and neither team was able to build much of a lead. Cedarville’s three-point shot was not falling down. The Jackets made their first three ten minutes into the first half. The ...

Review: ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

Cedarville’s “Fiddler on the Roof” resonated well with the majority of the crowd as opening night ended with a standing ovation. The show begins outside of Tevye’s home in Anatevka, and the audience is introduced to the fiddler on the roof. Tevye sets up the play with this metaphor: “But here, in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck.” The citizens of ...
