The Cedarville women came into Thursday night’s game with confidence after a monstrous 90-40 win over Tiffin this past weekend. Their electricity carried over from Saturday into the first half, with the Lady Jackets garnering an 11-point lead at halftime.

The second half proved to be no different, as the Lady Jackets cruised to a 27-point margin, defeating Lake Erie 88-61. The Yellow Jackets improve to 29-6 on the season and 15-4 in the conference.

The scoring surge of Cedarville was led by senior guard Regina Hochstetler, who scored 19 points. Guards Abby Wolford and Ashlyn Huffman were not far behind, finishing with 15 and 12 points respectively.

The Lady Jacket offense was firing on all cylinders the entire game, and contributions were made from all across the roster.

“That’s a special thing about this team. They all love each other, they all root for each other, and they all try to make plays for each other. To see the bench celebrate for the starter’s success and then see the starters celebrate for the bench’s success was really fun and that’s what the game is about,” head coach Kari Hoffman said.

Hochstetler agreed with her coach, believing she and her team played a complete game.
“I thought we took care of the ball well, shared the ball and our point guards did a great job of distributing and finding people tonight. It makes for fun basketball.”

Cedarville is ranked third in the G-MAC, and their next game comes against Ursuline this Saturday. This matchup will serve as the last home game for the Lady Jackets, who look to stay undefeated on Cedarville turf this season.

“It’s a big day. I hope people will come out and support our seniors – those five are really special to this team,” said Hoffman. “To honor them and to play well and get a win to stay undefeated at home will be a great capstone for these girls and this season.”

Saturday’s game tips off 1:00 P.M. in the Callan Athletic Center of Cedarville University.
