The Impact of Cedarville University’s Chapel on its Students

Filmed and Edited by Ian Chan 10 AM every weekday morning you will find a large crowd of students walking towards the Dixon Ministry Center on Cedarville University's campus to attend the chapel service. It is often described as the heart beat of campus.  Watch students talk about their experience with the daily service and how it has enriched their lives.

Faculty and students work together to keep Cedarville’s grounds beautiful

by Noah Tang The Grounds department at Cedarville University works tirelessly to maintain the landscapes on campus. It employs four full-time staff and a varying number of student workers throughout the year. Each full-time staff member leads a specialized work crew: Paul Ware oversees beautification, Steve Prether is in charge of fertilizing lawns, Evan Brown oversees hard landscape, and Jeff Volbert manages weed trimming.  I have had the opportunity to work in Grounds for the past ...

The Studio opens the world of art to the student body

By Caroline Stanton (Photo provided by Caroline Stanton) Cedarville University has many student-led clubs, or orgs, on campus to help students better connect with each other and explore a variety of different topics and interests. One of these orgs is little known to the general student body, but has much to offer students interested in art and connects them with a diverse group of people. It’s simply called The Studio and serves to help promote art on campus by offering artistic ...

Just sayin’: On next steps

By Heidie Raine I’m currently sitting in the Dayton airport, gate B19, three granola bars into a flight delay. The plane thatcame from Philadelphia has a bad nose, so while it gets rhinoplasty, we’re waiting for another jet fromD.C. Then to Chicago we’ll go — a jamboree of travelers depleted of phone batteries but rich in freeairline snacks.Chicago is a 90-minute drive from my mother’s house. It’s close enough that I can convince my dad topick me up tonight, but it’s far ...

Yellow Jackets fall to nationally ranked Hillsdale in conference opener

By: Alan Brads The Cedarville men’s basketball team faltered at home for the first time on Thursday, December 1, in their conference opener. The undefeated Hillsdale Chargers entered Callan Athletic Center with a perfect 7-0 record, and a stellar performance from their bench carried the nationally ranked squad to their eighth straight victory by a margin of 72-60. Cedarville dominated the first few minutes of the game before fatigue set in and players came flying off the bench. ...

Tim Allen returns in the new Disney+ series ‘The Santa Clauses’

By Anna Harman No one is more excited about this series than I am. “The Santa Clause” movies are some of my all-time favorites, and I’ve had the release date for this series on my calendar since it was announced. I think that it is very exciting to see the beloved characters from the original films come back. When filmmakers remake films or do a spin-off series, oftentimes they can’t get the cast to participate in it. But in this series, Tim Allen returns as Santa Claus, Elizabeth ...

‘Adventures in Odyssey: 28 Hours’ ties back to ‘Novacom’ 20 Years Later

By Sophia Monastra I am not the “Adventures in Odyssey” fanatic of my household. That title belongs to my younger sister. I only reap the benefits of her AIO Club account, one of which is access to the latest album, ‘28 Hours.’ Despite this album being written for a younger audience, I found much to enjoy from it. It’s a normal day in the semi-normal small town of Odyssey until someone breaks into the local antique shop, Triple J Antiques. This sets off a chain of events ...

‘Zootopia+’ is a humorous dive into worldbuilding

By Ella Smith After the roaring success of Zootopia it was a surprise there was never a sequel to continue the storyline that brought about such adoration. Now six years later the movie was followed up with a six-episode anthology series, with each episode featuring a side character from the movie, giving more depth to the world of Zootopia and showing different perspectives to many familiar scenes. “Hopp on Board” added insight into Judy’s family There were a couple that I ...

“Disenchanted” is a delightful film with wasted potential

By Janie Walenda Long before “Frozen” made fun of the love at first sight trope, “Enchanted” subverted the Disney fairytale playbook. The 2007 film is hilarious and heartfelt and utilizes its premise to deliver one of the best Disney romances to date. While “Disenchanted” is still a wildly enjoyable movie, it lacks a lot of the cleverness and meaning of its predecessor. The premise by itself is genius. Fifteen years after “Enchanted,” Giselle, Robert, Morgan and new baby ...

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is a stunning tribute

By Janie Walenda Not every movie can make me cry before the opening credits roll, but not every movie loses its star seven months before filming. Somehow, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” manages to both continue the themes of colonialism and imperialism from the first movie, but also craft a raw, complex portrayal of grief. The actors are the absolute shining jewel of “Wakanda Forever.” There are no weak links in the cast, and there are too many standout performances to count. ...
