ReKindle Worship Band Aims to Revitalize Worship

ReKindle is an all-girl worship band made up of nine Cedarville students that aims to revitalize worship while ministering to others. Band members said ReKindle was founded on 2 Timothy 1:6-7: “For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.” (NASB) Sophomore student and first-year bass player Maranda Smith said that when worshipping, ...

A Resounding 25 Years for Student Radio

In a time before Spotify, Pandora or even the Internet at Cedarville, there was student radio. And before the extinction of record turntables, Cedarville had student radio. Resound Radio, as it’s now known, has been a part of the Cedarville experience since 1990. It’s been broadcast on the AM and FM dials, through the campus intranet and at resoundradio.com. James Leightenheimer, associate professor of communications and faculty advisor to Resound, said student radio started when he ...

Movie Review: ‘The Boxtrolls’

“The Boxtrolls,” the latest offering from the stop-motion experts at Laika Animation (the makers of “Coraline” and “Paranorman”), is not your average animated film. Based on the 2005 children’s novel, “Here Be Monsters,” this movie offers viewers an experience like no other. Under the streets of the city of Cheesebridge lives a colony of creatures known as boxtrolls. They look like a mad scientist took Gollum and gave him the personality of the Minions from “Despicable ...

The play begins with the four March sisters — Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy — discussing what each of them will buy with their Christmas dollar. But as money is tight during the Civil War, the sisters realize that if they buy themselves something, they cannot give Marmee, their mother, any Christ...

But the March girls have strong ...

Movie Review: ‘The Fault in Our Stars’

“The Fault in Our Stars” is a movie to add to your “must see” list. The movie is based on John Green's novel by the same name and is widely accepted by audiences who have read the book and those who have not. The film features “Divergent” star Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace Lancaster and Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, more commonly referred to as Gus. Their performance in “Divergent” as brother and sister added to the chemistry seen on screen, as Hazel and Gus’ ...

Album Review: ‘Anomaly’

Christian rapper Lecrae released his new album, "Anomaly," on Sept. 11. The album is named "Anomaly" because of his unique testimony. Anomaly kicks off with the dark, piano-laden track “Outsiders.” Combining strings and pianos with a snappy, hard-hitting baseline, “Outsiders” is an outstanding intro track to the album. Elements included throughout the album are a heavy base, smooth lyrical delivery and a certain cleanness and polish to the production, which differs from the ...
