Army-Navy football game highlights a hundred year long tradition
By Janie Walenda
It’s hard to not be a football fan in a football family. Every fall my home is filled with the sounds of college football on television. I don’t mind sitting in the living room while a game is on, and I love hearing my mom or my grandma reacting to the games, but there’s only one game I ever pay attention to.
Every year in early December, the football teams of the United States Military Academy and the United States Naval Academy face off in the ...

The Cedarville Lady Jackets faltered against Ohio Christian University in a 79-75 loss.

Cedarville led the first 37 minutes of the game, but failed to put the game out of reach, never taking a double digit lead, which came back to bite them.
OCU’s Ashley Deweese buried a triple with 3:23 to play to tie the game at 63, and with 2:44 left the Trailblazers captured ...

By Emily Tuttle
The Cedarville men’s basketball team defeated Boyce in a dominant 129-63 fashion on Wednesday, December 6 in their Christmas at Callan matchup.
Although impressive, the Jacket’s 66-point margin was not the highlight of the evening. The men were on fire from three and broke Cedarville’s previous record of 20 treys in a single game with an astounding 26. Timothy Davis led the Jacket’s 59.1% 3-point shooting, nailing all seven of his attempts.

First annual Christmas basketball tournament: The battle for donut domination
By Maggie Fipps
The Christmas Threes vs. the Jingle Buckets. No, this is not the title of a bad Hallmark Christmas movie where the single basketball coach meets the Christmas-loving baker. This is the first-ever Cedarville Christmas Basketball Tournament. Five teams faced off to win the coveted prize of free Bills Donuts.
Mason Buch, a Sports Management major, started putting on tournaments last semester because of the large basketball community at Cedarville.

Sound of Freedom generates controversy and creates conversation around a call to action
By Esther Fultz
Human trafficking is not a topic many people want to discuss. Although the vast majority of people in both Christian and secular circles agree that human trafficking is a horrific atrocity, overwhelmingly few have actually done something to address the issue, and most of us remain undereducated on the magnitude of the problem.
“Sound of Freedom,” released in theaters on July 4, 2023, is a film that attempts to bring this issue to light. Jim Caviezel portrays Tim ...
‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is a near-perfect book-to-film adaptation
By Janie Walenda
I would like to apologize to everyone who was in the theater with me during “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” my brother most of all. I am a firm believer in the excited arm smack during movies, and my brother was the unlucky recipient of numerous such arm smacks as I freaked out watching one of my recent favorite books make its way to the big screen.
When I first heard about the “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” book, I was not a fan. Why would I want ...
‘Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets’ might just expose your secrets too
By Maggie Fipps
“The Duggar family is not a bizarre fascination,” said pastor and writer Josh Pease. “It is a horrifying glimpse that was told over and over again in so many different families.”
A four-part documentary series, “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” digs into the Duggar family of “19 Kids and Counting” and “Counting On” fame, and ultimately the harmful teachings of Bill Gothard, leader of the Institute of Basic Life Principles, or IBLP.&nb...
Student takes: When is it too early to listen to Christmas music?
By Jewell Strock
Songs like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” and “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole are staples when it comes to the Christmas season. But when should one start listening to Christmas music? Some start as soon as it turns into November 1, and others start strictly after Thanksgiving.
At Cedarville University the opinions vary as to when the “right time” is to begin the Christmas song season.
