Cedarville Basketball Loses Leading Scorers For Season

The Cedarville men’s and women’s basketball teams each lost their leading scorers less than a week apart in the first week of February.
Patrick Bain, a senior guard who led the team in points per game (21.7), assists per game (3.5), blocks (13), and steals (24), was on pace to win G-MAC Player of the Year. Bain tore his ACL with just over a minute to play in a win over Ohio Valley on Jan. 27.

The Cedarville Yellow Jackets (10-10, 5-8 G-MAC) suffered a gut-wrenching loss to Malone on Tuesday night in overtime, 84-82. The loss drops Cedarville to ninth place in the conference, leaving them out of the G-MAC Conference Tournament at this point.

Patrick Bain scored his 1,000th career point in the Cedarville Yellow Jackets (6-2, 1-0 G-MAC) conference opening win over the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans. Bain finished with 21 points, all of which came in the second half. Bain also added seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

The Cedarville Yellow Jackets (5-2) blew out the Shawnee State Bears on Saturday night by a final count of 106-80. Cedarville shot 63 percent from the field and 69 percent from behind the 3-point line in the game.
Junior forward Joey Morlan broke out for a career-high 20 points on 6-8 shooting from behind the arc. Morlan said ending his slow start to the season tonight will give him confidence going forward.
