Album Review: “Play Dead” by Mutemath
by Callahan Jones
Since the release of their self-titled album in 2006, Mutemath has rarely looked back at their own music history. Every project they’ve put out has been pushing in a new direction, constantly evolving from the alt-rock sound that they started out with.
After the departure of long-time guitarist Greg Hill coinciding with the release of their album “Odd Soul” in 2011, the changes became more apparent. The band’s music became led by aggressive synths and ...
Rinnova Revamped over Summer
By Zach Krauss
Over the summer Cedarville renovated Rinnova, the campus’s only coffee shop, as part of the larger renovation of the lower Stevens Student Center.
Rinnova has been on campus for more than 10 years, and it hadn’t had an upgrade since its opening. The renovation involved adding a counter extension and a second line and register, separating drip brew coffee and teas from other types of drinks such as smoothies and lattes. Rachel Street, senior social work major and the ...

by Kori Beal
What do, snakes, tombstones, and a bathtub all have in common?
I don’t know what you were thinking, but I was referring to the new Taylor Swift video, “Look What You Made Me Do”.
Despite being released a few weeks ago, it has already reached number one on the Official Singles Chart.
Why? What has the pop artist released this time that would add to her fame?
In the first 30 seconds of “Look What You Made Me Do”, it is easy to tell that Swift has taken a ...

Cedarville University’s women’s soccer team defeated Saginaw Valley State in their home opener Thursday night 4-0 in an out of conference game. Junior Alyssa Maillefer led the way scoring two goals less than two minutes apart.
Cedarville head coach Jonathan Meade said the girls’ team came out to execute what they had trained for in this game.
“They came ready to play and they took care of business and I’m really proud of them for that,” Meade said.

Just Sayin’ – How A Digital Detox Changed My Summer
By Alex Hentschel
That’s it,” I said resolutely, holding down my apps until they trembled with the fear of being deleted. “I’m done.”
My dad only looked at me in a “sure, if you say so” way, but I did it — on the car ride back from my freshman year, I got rid of all of my social media and time-wasting apps. Facebook. Instagram. Snapchat. GroupMe. Podcasts. My three — three! — brickbreaking games. I told my friends that all my social media was gone and they could — and ...
Alex & Mojade
SGA President and Vice President
by Naomi Harward
It’s no surprise that Alex and Mojade won the hearts (and votes) of so many during SGA elections last year. These two are some of the friendliest, most down-to-earth people you will meet on campus. Unless they’re running late to class or busy with homework, they’re almost always open to stopping to chat with you. They love meeting new people and both share a heart for fostering relationships with their fellow students.
This year, this ...
Stinger’s Renovation
by Callahan Jones
The Hive, Cedarville University’s full-service snack shop, is no longer. In its place is Stinger’s, a larger and modernized space.
“We set out to create a place where students can develop community, friendship, eat, and just to have a nice place where students can hang out,” said Dr. Thomas White, president of Cedarville University. “It was designed completely with the student in mind.”
As popular as it is and was, the Hive showed its age. The room had ...
Napkin Art
by Paolo Carrion
Creative Cedarville students have found a way to bring color and delight to the mundane routine of eating meals.
As a student on campus, you will undoubtedly spend many hours in Chuck’s or Stinger’s, eating lunch with friends or doing some last-minute studying.
Most people use napkins during meals, and for this reason Cedarville has supplied napkin holders for those who enjoy eating.
The napkin holders can be opened to place paper in the display window. Many ...
